Challenge Youth Director, David 'Smitty' Smith, Joins U14 US Youth National Team Staff
Once again Challenge Soccer Club finds itself involved with US National Teams as our Youth Director, David 'Smitty' Smith, has been called upon to join the staff at the upcoming U14 US National Team camp. Held at the US Soccer National Training Center in Carson, CA from March 19-26, Smitty will be teaming with U14 Head Coach, April Kater, and US Technical Director, April Heinrichs, as they begin to assess an initial pool of 48 players born in 2002 and 2003. This group of players will be starting their path towards the 2022 Women's World Cup and the Carson camp is their first taste at National Team commitments.

No stranger to the highest levels of youth soccer, Smitty has previously served as the U17 National Team Head Coach as well as playing the role of lead assistant on the 2002 U19 World Cup Champion side led by Tracey Leone.

"We are very excited to once again have Smitty working with our nation's top players. Smitty is well established as one of the elite youth coaches in the country and having him work with our U10-13 players on a daily basis is a unique experience that no other club can provide. His international experience is second to none and he has done a great job of shaping our Youth Program into one of the best in the country. We know he will be a great asset to US Soccer as they move the 2002 and 2003 players through their pathway and we look forward to him continuing to do the same with our Challenge family players for years to come."
-Pat O'Toole, Director of Coaching
