Challenge ECNL Finds Success at #ECNLPHX

Four Challenge ECNL teams traveled to Phoenix, Arizona for the first ECNL National Event of 2019/20 season, held November 8-10: 2005, 2004, 2003, 2002.

Over twelve games, the CSC ECNL program secured a winning record of 5 wins, 5 draws and only two losses while competing against some of the top clubs and teams from across the country and in front of hundreds of college coaches from across the nation. Additionally every Challenge ECNL team was scouted/evaluated by US National Team scouts and staff.

03 ECNL was the standout performer on the weekend with 3 wins in 3 games, all while competing against similar top end conference performers from the Southeast and Northwest Conferences  (Alabama FC, San Juan, Mustang). 03 goals were scored by Phoebe Harpole (2), Lorelai Stramrood (2), Samone Knight and Jaycie Silhan. The 03s are currently the 14th ranked team in the nation, have won 6 straight and have only suffered one total loss, including August preseason.

02 and 04 ECNL  also both had unbeaten weekends with 1 win (Slammers 02 and South Carolina Utd 04) and 2 draws each (Utah Avalanche/ Marin FC 02 and Del Mar/Santa Rosa 04). The 02s put together 3 clean sheets and inarguably had the highlight of the weekend with GK Maddy Anderson (Mississippi State) scoring from 65 yards out! 02 Goal scorers included Maddy, Chloe Brown and Alexa Riddle while the 04 goals were notched by Salma Alheimer (3), Ady Armenta and Reagan Crawford.

05 ECNL had a great experience in their first out of state national event. They had a very difficult draw, including matches against national powers Michigan Hawks and So Cal Blues, and played really good soccer while earning a 2-2 draw against Hawks and playing two very tight one goal losses. Goals were scored by Bri Carrigan (2).

Finally, 03 standouts Maile Hayes (Texas A&M) and Lorelai Stramrood (Baylor) were selected to participate in the inaugural ECNL National Selection Game. The Selection Games are played “under the lights” at ECNL Girls National Events that are held throughout the season, at venues across the country, to provide top players an opportunity to shine on the league’s brightest stage.  Games are live-streamed and broadcast on Facebook and YouTube, showcasing the country’s top youth players across America. The first game in Phoenix featured some of the best players in the country playing in an outstanding environment with several thousand supporters in attendance!

ECNL Girls National Selection Games also celebrate the unique and empowering environment at every ECNL Girls National Event, which is represented by the mantra “More Than A League.”™  ECNL Girls National Events bring nearly every college in the country to scout the next generation of talent in the clubs and league that have produced more collegiate soccer players than anyone else in America. In total, 99% of ECNL Girls players attend college and approximately 90% go on to be collegiate athletes.

The Challenge ECNL 04, 03 and 02 Composite will next travel to the South Carolina National Event held in Greer, SC from December 6-8, to once again perform in the top platform in the country!
